This afternoon I saw the most horrific thing I have ever seen. Let me back the story up a little.
Our house is in a little cluster of 5 houses. We all come in a common driveway and then our individual driveways stem off from there. The house directly across from us is a rental. There is a mom and her 13 year old son living there right now that have been nothing but a headache.
So this afternoon a huge Ford F250 truck pulls in. He pulls in the driveway sideways and parks, which was cool because then his truck wasn't hanging out into the shared driveway. He gets out of the truck smoking a cigar and gets his kids out of the backseat.
I hate when people smoke in the car with their kids, but whatever. He grabs his case of beer and goes inside. After a little bit, he cracks a beer and he starts doing her yard work. Not a big deal.
We take off and run some errands. About an hour later we come back and the truck was sticking out into the shared driveway. Again, not a big deal, we had room to get by, just couldn't make the wide turn into our driveway to get passed our other car and get in the garage, but we could manage. When he saw us coming, the guy jumped in his truck and proceeds to pull forward. What he didn't realize, is his 4ish year old son was right in front of his truck playing on a skateboard. I was in our van looking directly at his front tire and seeing this child and I was saying "oh my gosh, he is going to hit his kid". I couldn't believe it. Before I could even think to do anything, I see his little legs appear under the tire as he is still pulling forward. We roll our windows down and start screaming "BACK UP BACK UP". By this point, the kid who lives there, who was standing right next to the child but apparently is
that oblivious, noticed. And he also yelled to back up. Once he backed his massive truck off his kid, we offered to call 911. He said that he would take care of it. I still can't stop thinking of this kid, his lifeless legs and his screams when his dad picked him up and carried him in the house. We don't know whether or not he took him to the hospital, but I highly doubt that kid made it through that without injury.
